[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 30s has been arrested on charges of stabbing his girlfriend with a weapon and killing her by dropping her from an apartment building after she informed him of their breakup.
On the 19th, Judge Lee Se-chang, who is in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, conducted a pre-arrest detention hearing for Mr. A (31) and issued an arrest warrant, citing "risk of flight."
Mr. A, who appeared at the court for the hearing that afternoon, told reporters asking about the motive for the crime, "I was at home when she cheated on me," and added, "We tried to die together, but since we couldn't, I reported it (to the police)." He also tearfully said, "I am sorry to the bereaved families. I am reflecting on my actions."
Mr. A is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Ms. B, multiple times with a weapon on the emergency stairs of an apartment in Seocho-gu around 8:30 p.m. on the 17th, then dragging her into his 19th-floor residence and dropping her off the balcony, causing her death.
