[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Ma Gwan-woo (31, photo) passed as the top qualifier.
On the 19th, at Gunsan Golf Club (par 71, 7,104 yards) in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, Ma added 3 under par on the final day of the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour Qualifying Tournament (QT) Final Stage (total prize money 30 million won) to win by one stroke (12 under par 272). This is his second time as the top qualifier, following 2011. Ma joined the regular tour in 2012. Although he has yet to win, he performed well by ranking within the top 20 in prize money in 2015 (28th) and 2016 (29th).

This year, he struggled with a prize money ranking of 103rd and lost his tour card. His best finish this season was a tie for 13th at the Bizplay Electronic Newspaper Open last September. Choi Jae-hoon (23) finished 2nd, Lee Kyu-min (21) 3rd, and Jung Ji-woong and Lee Sang-yeop (both 27) tied for 4th, showing strong performances. The top 40 players earn a category to compete on the first division tour next year. On the other hand, 'Long Drive King' Kim Dae-hyun (33) withdrew during the third round and failed to secure his card. Three-time champion Kim Woo-hyun (30) also finished tied for 74th, shedding tears.
