Wanju County Council Member Yoon Subong: "Many Issues with Factory Occupancy in Jeonbuk Innovation City Industry-Academia-Research Cluster!"

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Yoon Soo-bong, a member of the Wanju County Council (Democratic Party of Korea, District A), strongly condemned the establishment of factories within the industry-academia-research cluster site in Jeonbuk Innovation City.

During the administrative audit of the Construction Safety Bureau at the 264th 2nd regular meeting, Councilor Yoon stated, “All processes from the approval of the Innovation City development plan to the implementation plan approval were led by the project executors, Jeonbuk Province and Jeonbuk Development Corporation,” and criticized, “Designating the cluster site next to a residential complex site with more than 1,000 households in the initial district unit plan and allowing manufacturing facilities to be established there is a shameless act.”

Yoon pointed out, “This proves that the district unit planning procedure for the three cluster sites within Innovation City was flawed from the start,” and added, “During this process, Wanju County played no role at all.”

In particular, Yoon claimed, “Although Wanju County is currently purchasing the 5th cluster site in front of the Local Autonomy Talent Development Institute through a three-year plan in consultation with the Development Corporation, if they had identified and purchased the 3rd cluster site earlier, the current situation would not have occurred.”

Yoon stated, “While all processes are judged to be legally sound, only the residents are suffering the consequences,” and added, “The Development Corporation, which divided and sold the 3rd cluster site located next to a densely populated residential area to manufacturing companies, is no less responsible than Wanju County, which failed to prevent this in advance.”
