Gochang-gun Completes 'Public Parking Tower' Construction... Expected to Ease Parking Shortage
[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] With the completion of a 258-space parking tower in the central commercial area of Gochang-eup, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, it is expected to alleviate the downtown parking shortage.
On the 19th, Gochang-gun held the ‘Gochang-eup Public Parking Tower Completion Ceremony’ in the morning.
The event was attended by County Governor Yu Gisang, Choi Inkyu, Chairman of the Gochang County Council and council members, and Seong Gyeongchan, Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly member, among others.
The Gochang-eup Public Parking Tower was constructed on 16 lots including 197-4 Eumnae-ri, Gochang-gun, which was previously used as a parking lot, with a scale of 3 floors above ground and 4 levels.
With a total project cost of 8 billion KRW (4 billion KRW from the national government and 4 billion KRW from the county), construction began in earnest in January and was completed in 10 months.
The parking spaces total 258, consisting of 125 general parking spaces, 7 spaces reserved for the disabled, and 2 electric vehicle spaces.
It is equipped with the latest facilities such as a parking guidance system that allows checking the parking status and available spaces by floor, elevators, emergency bells, and CCTV, and a parking control system that can be switched to paid parking whenever necessary.
County Governor Yu Gisang said, “The completion of the parking tower will greatly help revitalize the surrounding commercial district by improving the parking environment in the old downtown area,” and added, “We will create a safe parking environment through systematic management.”
