Korean National Police University Opens 'Women and Children Safety Research Institute'... Research on Violence Against Women and Child Abuse
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] On the afternoon of the 19th, the Korean National Police University held an opening ceremony for the 'Korean National Police University Women and Children Safety Research Institute' at the Korean National Police University in Asan-si, Chungnam.
The Women and Children Safety Research Institute will establish a research network involving experts from various fields and seek effective police response measures through research on women's violence such as digital sex crimes, dating violence, stalking, as well as child abuse and victim protection.
It is composed of about 20 internal members including professors of the Korean National Police University and researchers from the Institute of Police Policy Studies, and about 10 external guest research members. It will conduct research necessary for the field and develop educational programs reflecting a gender-sensitive perspective.

Lee Cheol-gu, president of the Korean National Police University, said, "Although laws such as the Child Abuse Punishment Act, Youth Sexual Protection Act, and Stalking Punishment Act were enacted and revised this year, there is a continuous need for broad research for the safety of women and children, so we established the Korean National Police University Women and Children Safety Research Institute."
