The forum, themed "The Significance of Middle Power Diplomacy in the US-China Conflict Era for the Korea-Canada Partnership," was attended by about 20 forum members from both Korea and Canada, including Vice Chairman Kwon.
Vice Chairman Kwon stated, "Korea and Canada are both close to major powers, the United States and China, and in areas such as carbon emission reduction and new industries including artificial intelligence (AI), the strengths each country possesses can complement rather than compete with each other, making an ideal partnership between the two countries expected."
Meanwhile, at the forum, AI and hydrogen sectors were identified as areas where the economic communities of Korea and Canada should strengthen cooperation. Canada, which announced the world's first national AI strategy in 2017, has seen companies like Samsung Electronics (Montreal) and LG Electronics (Toronto) establish AI research centers to serve as hubs for AI talent development.

The hydrogen industry is also a promising area for private-sector cooperation, as both the Korean and Canadian governments are strongly promoting the activation of the hydrogen economy. It is also expected that cooperation in renewable energy-related technologies, such as carbon capture technology where Canada has strengths, will expand.
