EV6·EV6 GT Line to Launch in China Market by End of Next Year "Releasing at Least One Dedicated Electric Vehicle Annually"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Kia announced on the 19th that it unveiled the EV6 for the first time in China at the '2021 Guangzhou International Motor Show' held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.
Ryu Chang-seung, General Manager of Dongfeng Yueda Kia, said in his welcoming speech, "China is leading the development of the global electric vehicle market," and added, "Starting next year, we will launch at least one dedicated electric vehicle model annually to meet consumers' needs for sustainable mobility."
The EV6 unveiled by Kia on this day is a vehicle launched domestically last August and is the first dedicated electric vehicle presenting the blueprint for next-generation mobility based on Kia's mid- to long-term business strategy Plan S. It features interior and exterior designs embodying the new design philosophy of 'Opposite United,' an acceleration time of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, a multi-charging system capable of 800V ultra-fast charging, and V2L (Vehicle to Load), a concept of a mobile energy storage device.
Kia also unveiled the EV6 GT Line model, which applies dedicated interior and exterior designs and wheels along with the EV6. Kia plans to launch the EV6 and EV6 GT models in China by the end of next year, marking its full-scale entry into the local electric vehicle market. Furthermore, according to the Plan S strategy, Kia aims to establish a total of 11 electric vehicle lineups by 2026 to lead the global electric vehicle market.
