Seoul City Hosts 'Seoul Zero Forest Zero Waste Market' with Participation of 23 Companies
Expansion of Zero Waste Store Support Projects Including 'Zero Waste Store Certification System' Since 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 19th that it will hold the ‘Seoul Zero Forest Zero Waste Market’ on the first floor of the Seoul Saehalyong Plaza’s Saehalyong House.
The ‘Seoul Zero Forest Zero Waste Market’ is an event planned by Seoul’s zero waste experience space ‘Zero Forest’ and will be held for a total of four days from the 20th to 21st and 27th to 28th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A total of 23 companies will participate in this event, introducing zero waste consumption culture to citizens not only through pop-up stores selling zero waste daily necessities and upcycled fashion products but also through vegan bakeries, one-day classes, and clothing exchange events.
At this event, visitors can explore pop-up stores of 14 zero waste and upcycling brands. In addition to zero waste daily necessities such as solid toothpaste, special products will be sold, including vegan fashion bags made from cactus leather, furniture made of paper, and accessories made from tape separated from delivery boxes.
One-day classes offering unique experiences to learn about zero waste and upcycling concepts will also be held. The classes consist of four sessions, including ‘Making a Tree from Sock Yarn’ and ‘Making a Mobile from Beach Waste Glass.’ Events such as the ‘21% Party,’ where participants swap clothes with each other, and the ‘Geuje Store Charity Auction,’ which delivers donated products from eco-friendly brands to those in need, will also take place.
After the operation of ‘Zero Forest’ ends, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continue promoting policies to expand zero waste stores, such as implementing a ‘Zero Waste Store Certification System,’ to ensure zero waste stores become part of citizens’ daily lives.
