Over 300 Local Tourism Dure Resident Enterprises Nationwide Promote Excellent Businesses and Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Tourism Organization, announced that the ‘2021 Tourism Dure National Conference: Dure Together’ will be held both online and offline from the 18th to the 24th.
The Tourism Dure project is a policy initiative that supports local communities step-by-step?from discovering resident communities to business planning, startup, and management improvement?so that local residents can directly establish and operate tourism businesses with unique regional characteristics in various fields such as accommodation, food and beverage, travel, and experiences. Since its launch in 2013, the project has discovered and supported over 700 resident businesses in 105 regions to date.
At this conference, about 300 Tourism Dure resident businesses from across the country, Tourism Dure PDs, local government officials, and other stakeholders will gather to exchange ideas and promote excellent Tourism Dure projects and products to the public through various events.
From the 18th to the 24th, the ‘Korea’s Hidden Gems Tourism Dure Special Pavilion’ and the ‘Naver Reservation Hub Page’ will be operated to promote and support the sales of Tourism Dure products. In particular, ‘Naver Shopping Live’ will feature real-time sales of outstanding Tourism Dure products hosted by comedians Lee Seung-yoon and Jung Beom-gyun.
On the 19th at 3 p.m., an official event will be held via live streaming on the website. Attendees can watch in real time ▲presentations of outstanding Tourism Dure cases ▲live site connections with members of local Tourism Dure resident businesses ▲and an awards ceremony for excellent resident businesses.
At this year’s awards ceremony, the ‘Surf City Cooperative’ from Yangyang, Gangwon Province, selected as an excellent resident business, will receive a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Three basic local governments that have generously supported the Tourism Dure project (Anseong-si in Gyeonggi, Pyeongchang-gun in Gangwon, and Cheongyang-gun in Chungnam) will receive special merit awards.
Additionally, excellent resident businesses that have practiced social values on themes such as youth, middle-aged, eco-friendliness, social responsibility management, and governance improvement (ESG) were also selected. These include ▲‘JAMTORY’ in Eumseong, Chungbuk, where young people who lost jobs in the travel industry due to the COVID-19 crisis are preparing to start a local travel agency through Tourism Dure ▲‘Our Village University Cooperative’ in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, where middle-aged workshop experts have united to lead the revitalization of neighborhood communities focusing on wine and coffee experts ▲and ‘Monyang’ in Dong-gu, Daegu, which transforms discarded ceramics into unique mugs.
On-site events will also be held. At the aT Center 2nd Exhibition Hall in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, a Tourism Dure promotional booth will be operated to actively introduce Tourism Dure resident businesses and products.
More detailed information about this conference can be found on the official Tourism Dure website and the Korea’s Hidden Gems Tourism Dure Special Pavilion.
