992 COVID-19 Cases in Seoul by 6 PM... Second Highest Ever at Same Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] As of 6 p.m. on the 17th in Seoul, 992 new COVID-19 cases were reported.
This is the second highest record following 996 cases on the 16th, based on provisional counts for the same time period. Compared to the previous day, it is 4 cases fewer, but 317 cases more than a week ago (the 10th), when there were 675 cases. Among the cases reported on this day, 5 were imported, and the rest were domestic transmissions.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul dropped from 1,221 on September 24 to 298 on the 18th of last month, then surged sharply to 1,004 on the 2nd of this month. Since then, the numbers fluctuated between 600 and 1,000, but due to fewer tests conducted over the weekend from the 13th to the 15th, the count fell below 1,000. However, starting from the 16th, as the weekend effect diminished, the number of confirmed cases surged again.
