Minister Park Beom-gye's Visit to the US... Discussing Korean Peninsula Peace and International Law at the UN and Others
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye will visit the United States to discuss cooperation measures in the fields of Korean Peninsula peace, international law, and counterterrorism.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 17th, Minister Park will visit Washington D.C. and New York from the 17th to the 23rd. On the 18th, Minister Park will give a lecture titled "Placing Legal Stepping Stones Over the River of International Politics: Legal Framework of Inter-Korean Relations and the Path to Peace on the Korean Peninsula" to faculty and students at George Washington University. On the 19th, he will visit the Mansfield Foundation to have a dialogue on unification with CEO Frank Januzi, followed by a meeting with local correspondents for a roundtable discussion.
On the 22nd, he will visit the UN Headquarters. He plans to meet with Boronkov, Deputy Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, and other officials to discuss strengthening partnerships and personnel exchanges with the Ministry of Justice. He will also meet Miguel de Serpa Soares, Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs at the UN. A dinner with Thomas Byrne, President of the Korea Society, and officials from the Korea Society including the Director of the Korean Law Center at Columbia University Law School is also scheduled for the 22nd.
