Collaboration with Lotte's Eco-Friendly Brand 'OOTT'... Eco-Friendly Fashion Products to be Launched
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] 'LAR Sneakers,' famous as the 'Shin Dong-bin Eco-Friendly Sneakers,' is opening a pop-up store at Lotte Department Store.
Lotte Department Store announced on the 17th that it will showcase a collaborative pop-up store between its eco-friendly private brand (PB) 'OOTT' and the eco-friendly brand LAR at the Jamsil branch on the 18th.
LAR sneakers were created through Lotte Group's waste plastic recycling project, 'Project LOOP.' Waste PET bottles collected from Lotte affiliates' stores were used as raw materials, with Kumho Fibers and the Korea Textile Development Institute producing yarn and fabric. The eco-friendly startup LAR then used these materials for the shoe lining and shoelaces to make the sneakers.
LAR sneakers are gaining popularity for being eco-friendly while offering comfortable wear and simple design. Notably, they became a hot topic after being worn by Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group. Due to overwhelming demand, the product has become so popular that customers must wait over three months to purchase it.
The pop-up store will feature 11 styles of LAR eco-friendly sneakers, including the signature 'Earth' model, as well as eco-bags. The Earth sneaker is characterized by its sleek design and comfortable fit. The cushioned sole is made of biodegradable polyurethane, and the shoe lining and laces are made from yarn extracted from recycled PET bottles.
Meanwhile, this pop-up store is part of Lotte Shopping's five major ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) projects unveiled on the 11th. Alongside announcing the integrated ESG campaign brand 'RE:EARTH,' Lotte Shopping revealed plans to distribute eco-friendly products sourced responsibly and, in the long term, to create dedicated retail spaces for such products.
Lotte Department Store plans to implement the initial business model of the RE:EARTH project through this pop-up store, which collaborates with LAR, a brand pursuing eco-friendliness from materials to processes. OOTT and LAR will continue to collaborate on developing various eco-friendly fashion products starting with this pop-up store.
