Cultural City Geumcheon Landmark 'Geumcheon Musical Center' Opens
Opening ceremony at 2 PM on the 19th... Four-story building with performance hall, practice rooms, lecture rooms, and creative spaces... Full-scale operation of musical-specialized programs such as planned performances and creative musical classes
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will hold the opening ceremony of the Geumcheon Musical Center at 2 p.m. on the 19th.
Geumcheon-gu established the 'Geumcheon Musical Center' last July to enable residents to fully enjoy cultural life in their daily lives.
The Geumcheon Musical Center is a four-story building above ground and is the first public institution specialized facility for musicals, equipped with a performance hall, practice rooms, lecture rooms, and creative spaces. In particular, the 'Geumcheon Arts Theater,' spanning from the 3rd to the 4th floor, is a 197-seat 'variable black box type' theater where various performances for residents will be held in the future.
About 120 people, including Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Southern Education Support Office, middle and high school principals, and Geumcheon-gu residents, will attend the opening ceremony to celebrate the center's opening. The event will include facility introductions, congratulatory performances, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Especially, as a special opening performance, musical actress Kim So-hyun, who has appeared in musicals such as 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'KBS Immortal Songs,' will perform a congratulatory stage.
The Geumcheon Musical Center has been partially open and operating since last July. To popularize musicals, a special lecture for residents was held in August by inviting musical music director Kim Moon-jung, and in October, a teacher workshop was held in collaboration with the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ), the largest children's and youth theater organization in Korea. Going forward, musical-specialized programs such as musical production and planned performances for youth and adults, and creative musical classes will be fully operated.
