This is an increase of 589 cases compared to 791 at the same time the previous day, and 433 more than 947 cases on the 9th, a week ago. This is the highest record ever based on the tentative count for the same time period.
The daily confirmed cases in Seoul reached a record high of 1,221 on September 24, dropped to 298 on the 18th of last month, then sharply increased to 1,004 on the 2nd of this month. On the 10th and 12th, the numbers were 1,004 and 1,005 respectively. From the 13th to the 15th, the cases fell below 1,000 due to the weekend effect, but the spread trend has not eased as daily record highs were broken on each weekday.
The number of tests conducted in one day also nearly doubled from 46,511 on Sunday the 14th to 92,952 on Monday the 15th. The increase in new confirmed cases on the 16th appears to reflect the results of these tests.
