A New 50 Years Begin! ... Vision Declaration for the Integrated New Office Building in Gangseo-gu, Seoul
Gangseo-gu, Seoul to Hold 'Integrated New Office Building Vision Proclamation Ceremony' at 2 PM on the 17th... Sharing Goals and Vision of Integrated New Office Building with Residents... Live Broadcast on YouTube Channel iGangseoTV
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) has embarked on a full-scale move to build an integrated new government building.
On the 17th at 2 p.m., the district will hold the "Integrated New Government Building Construction Vision Proclamation Ceremony" at the green space plaza next to the site of the Magok District integrated new government building.
The purpose is to share the future blueprint of the Gangseo-gu integrated new government building with 600,000 residents through the winning design of the international design competition and to widely promote the construction vision.
The proclamation ceremony will be attended by Gangseo-gu Mayor Noh Hyun-song, members of the National Assembly, the district council chairman, city and district council members, heads of major local institutions, and representatives of Gangseo residents including heads of each neighborhood residents' autonomy committee, presidents of neighborhood associations, and recipients of the Gangseo Resident Award.
The event will last for one hour, starting with a congratulatory performance, followed by the screening of a promotional video for the Gangseo-gu integrated new government building, speeches by guests, a commemorative event, and photography.
In particular, the construction goals and vision that indicate the direction the Gangseo-gu integrated new government building should take will be proclaimed at this event.
The construction goal, "The start of a new 50 years for Gangseo-gu, a new government building preparing for Gangseo's future," along with four construction directions will be announced: ▲ an integrated government building with improved administrative services ▲ a cultural government building with added leisure and relaxation ▲ an open shared government building accessible to everyone ▲ a convenient smart government building incorporating future technologies.
With the phased recovery of daily life underway, this proclamation ceremony, prepared accordingly, is expected to be a more meaningful occasion as it directly informs residents about the new government building construction. However, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the number of on-site participants will be limited, and quarantine rules will be strictly followed during the event.
Instead, the district plans to broadcast the proclamation ceremony live online through the official Gangseo-gu Office YouTube channel, iGangseoTV, to vividly deliver the event to more residents.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "As we pass through the long tunnel of COVID-19 and enter the path of phased daily recovery, I am grateful to be able to invite residents and announce the vigorous start of the new government building construction. We will do our best to make the integrated new government building an open government building that communicates with residents, a cultural government building, and furthermore, a landmark of Gangseo-gu and a new growth engine leading the future development of Gangseo."
The current Gangseo-gu Office was completed in 1977 and has long faced safety issues due to aging, and the government offices have been dispersed due to limited space, continuously raising the need for a new government building.
Accordingly, the district is actively promoting the construction of an integrated new government building in the Magok District. In April, the contract for purchasing the site was signed, the winning design of the international design competition was selected in July, and full-scale design services began in September.
The Gangseo-gu integrated new government building is scheduled for completion in 2026 and will be constructed on a 20,244㎡ site at 745-3 Magok-dong, housing the district office, district council, public health center, and resident convenience facilities together.
