Establishes New Partnership with Hyundai Motor, Incheon Airport Corporation, Hyundai Construction, and Korean Air
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 16th that it will join forces with leading domestic companies to revitalize the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) industry.
This collaboration is notable for the addition of Korean Air to the existing partnership of KT, Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Construction, and Incheon International Airport Corporation, which had previously gathered to activate the domestic UAM industry ecosystem.
The five companies agreed to mutually cooperate on ▲building the UAM ecosystem and increasing social acceptance ▲joint efforts to revitalize the UAM industry ▲joint promotion of a UAM business cooperation roadmap and demonstration projects among the five companies ▲joint execution of the K-UAM roadmap and UAM Team Korea activities.
Alongside this, KT participated in the UAM Confex (Conference+Exhibition) held at the Paradise City Hotel in Incheon, demonstrating technology supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement. This technology is the K-Drone System (UTM) developed and secured through the "Development and Demonstration Project of Low-Altitude Traffic Management System for Stable Operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles," and was linked with airport control for the first time during this demonstration. At the event, KT showcased a demonstration of traffic management integrating airport control systems with a two-seater UAM vehicle and drones flying within the control zone near Incheon International Airport using UTM.
During the two-day event held on the 16th and 17th, the five companies will jointly present a UAM ecosystem blueprint based on each company's area of expertise, and KT will propose a communication infrastructure and platform blueprint for the full-scale commercialization of UAM.
