‘Happy Journey’ is LH’s representative social contribution activity that began in 2004 and is now in its 18th year. Through this program, a total of 258 couples have held wedding ceremonies to date.
This year, LH listened to the stories of couples who could not hold weddings due to COVID-19 and invited a total of 15 couples to the ‘Happy Journey’ event.
Many stories were received, including Mr. Jung (last name withheld), who lost his job due to COVID-19 and started a delivery business, making it difficult to prepare for a wedding; Mr. Kang (last name withheld), who wanted to create good memories for his wife who had worked hard raising four children; and Mr. Ahn (last name withheld), from a multicultural family who could not hold a wedding due to financial difficulties.
Among these, LH supported all aspects of the wedding for 15 couples under the theme ‘Connecting People, Love, and Happiness,’ including wedding photography, gifts, receptions, and return gifts, to encourage their new beginnings.
Family members and relatives of the 15 couples attended the wedding ceremony, with KBS announcers Seungwon Oh and Jiwon Park hosting the event, and LH President Hyunjun Kim officiating.
The event featured a media art performance expressing the couples’ stories of love and family in a storytelling format, support messages from famous athletes, congratulatory performances by singers and popera artists, photo sessions, and receptions, among various celebrations.
Additionally, LH live-streamed the wedding ceremony on its YouTube channel ‘LH Korea Land and Housing Corporation’ so that those unable to attend could also celebrate the couples’ new beginnings.
Mr. Jung (45), who held his wedding on this day, said, “I lost my job due to COVID-19 and was delivering packages, so I never thought about having a wedding. My wife applied to Happy Journey three times, and I am very happy and grateful that our wish came true. From now on, whenever times are tough, I will remember today and live happily.”
LH President Hyunjun Kim said, “Through the Happy Journey wedding ceremony, I hope the bride and groom who have overcome many hardships and found love will start their second happy journey. LH will continue to strive not only to provide housing spaces such as rental housing but also to improve the quality of life of the residents living there.”
