The 'Haemil Intercultural Exchange Center,' whose completion ceremony was held the day before, is located within 'Haemil School,' an alternative school for multicultural youth in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, where multicultural youth with various migration backgrounds and cultures can live together. To build the center, Hana Financial Group joined forces with Gangwon Province, Hongcheon County, and the Community Chest of Korea in June 2019 to establish a joint fund.
The completion ceremony was attended by Ham Young-joo, Vice Chairman of Hana Financial Group, Kim In-soon, Chairman of Haemil School, Cho Heung-sik, Chairman of the Community Chest of Korea, and Lee Je-hoon, Chairman of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, among others.
The newly built center consists of one basement floor and three above-ground floors, equipped with 22 student dormitory rooms and 8 rooms for dorm supervisors and teachers, totaling 30 rooms. It also includes facilities for leisure and educational activities such as a multipurpose room and a creative education room, accommodating a total of 80 residents.
Vice Chairman Ham said, “I am sincerely pleased to participate in the establishment of a center that helps multicultural youth learn to respect diversity and differences and supports their growth as key talents of the future generation,” adding, “Hana Financial Group will continue to do its best to create a society where we grow together without discrimination or prejudice and share happiness.”
