[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Amid the ongoing shortage of urea solution, the police are investigating 147 cases related to hoarding and sales fraud.
Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated in a written briefing on the 15th, "As of the afternoon of the previous day, we are investigating 147 cases, including 4 cases reported by the Ministry of Environment for hoarding," and added, "We will conduct swift and strict investigations into illegal activities." By type, there are 136 cases of online and offline urea solution sales fraud, 10 cases of hoarding, and 1 case of manufacturing standard violation.
Since the enforcement of the hoarding prohibition notice on the 8th of this month, the police have been conducting special crackdowns through on-site inspections together with the Ministry of Environment and other government joint inspection teams. From the 11th, under the emergency supply adjustment notice, they have also been cracking down on ▲ unreported sales volume, ▲ sales exceeding the allowable purchase quantity, and ▲ resale by purchasers.
Regarding the real estate speculation allegations triggered by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), one additional member of the National Assembly has been sent for prosecution. Commissioner Kim explained, "We have received cases involving 33 current and former members of the National Assembly; 4 with recognized charges have been sent for prosecution, 21 without recognized charges have been closed without prosecution, and investigations and inquiries are ongoing for the remaining 8."

The police also conducted investigations, joint forensic examinations, searches and seizures, and on-site verifications related to the gas leak incident at a construction site in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and have additionally booked 10 people connected to the accident. As a result, the total number of people booked in connection with this case has increased to 15. A National Police Agency official stated, "We have booked individuals deemed responsible, including site supervisors, those in charge of supervision, and those related to facility equipment," and added, "There is also a possibility of additional bookings."
