7 out of 10 Gwanak residents say "Gwanak-gu is doing well"... Why?

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seven out of ten residents of Gwanak-gu perceive the overall Gwanak-gu administration as ‘doing well’.
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) disclosed the results of the ‘2021 Regular Public Opinion Survey’ conducted to assess satisfaction with the 7th local government administration and to establish resident-centered participatory policies in the With-Corona era.
The survey was conducted by a professional polling agency targeting 1,000 residents, with a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
According to the results, 69.9% of respondents answered that Gwanak-gu’s policies and projects are ‘doing well,’ which is an increase of 11.2 percentage points compared to the previous year.
In particular, there was strong agreement on the key projects promoted by the district, such as fostering a cultural city (87.9%), building a smart city (84.3%), promoting the designation of a venture business promotion district (81.2%), and the Starlight Naerincheon specialized project (78.8%).
Additionally, in the With-Corona era, the policies that should be prioritized in Gwanak-gu were identified as support for residents affected by COVID-19, including small business owners (29.5%), and job creation (29.4%). For single-person household policies, housing welfare support (31.8%) and job provision (26.3%) were prioritized.
Regarding the district’s safety level, 62.9% responded that it is ‘safe.’ To create a city safe from crime, the project to expand CCTV, streetlights, and crime prevention safety lighting (58.5%) was selected as a priority, which is a 13.1 percentage point increase from the previous year.
The main channel for residents to receive district news was ‘through official SNS,’ with responses steadily increasing from 9.0% to 16.2% and then to 18.4% over the past years. This indicates that the district has faithfully delivered closely related information to residents’ lives, such as major quarantine rules, disaster relief fund application methods, and Gwanak-gu weekly news through various SNS media over the past two years.
