[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 14th regarding the aerospace industry, "We will establish a presidential space strategy headquarters and strive to ensure that government support is carried out efficiently."
On the same day, during his visit to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in Sacheon, Gyeongnam, Lee said, "From the perspective of aerospace industry development, it is necessary to partially integrate and coordinate functions that are currently dispersed across various ministries."
He emphasized, "I believe it is essential to support the growth of the Gyeongnam area centered around KAI into a cluster and mecca of the aerospace industry," adding, "Especially in relation to the defense industry, the localization of defense technology to convert Air Force flights to domestic production is also necessary."
