According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team as of midnight on the 14th, the number of 16- to 17-year-olds who have received all recommended doses of the Pfizer vaccine increased by 32,490 from the previous day, totaling 199,485. The cumulative number of first-dose recipients in this age group is 623,975. As of last month’s 18th, the team identified 899,000 adolescents aged 16?17, which means the vaccination completion rate is about 22%, and the first-dose vaccination rate is about 70%. The 16?17 age group made advance reservations for vaccination from the 5th to the 29th of last month and received vaccinations at nationwide designated medical institutions over four weeks from the 8th of last month to the 13th of this month.
Those aged 16?17 who did not participate in the advance reservation can still receive the vaccine at any time. Following the implementation of the phased daily recovery plan and the continued increase in COVID-19 cases among children and adolescents, the government announced on the 12th that it "actively recommends COVID-19 vaccination for children and adolescents" and informed that "Pfizer vaccine administration is currently available at medical institutions at any time."
Including those aged 16?17, the total number of people in South Korea who have completed all recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine increased by 100,839 from the previous day, reaching 40,099,131. The vaccination completion rate compared to the country’s population (51,349,116 as of last December) is 78.1%, and among those aged 18 and older, it is 90.4%. The cumulative number of completed vaccinations by vaccine type is 21,364,724 for Pfizer, 11,012,680 for AstraZeneca (including 1,763,154 who received AstraZeneca-Pfizer mixed doses), 6,228,496 for Moderna, and 1,493,231 for Janssen.
By age group, the vaccination completion rates are highest among those in their 50s and 60s at 94.4%, followed by those in their 70s at 92.8%, 40s at 89.9%, 18?29 at 88.0%, 30s at 85.7%, and 80 and older at 82.2%. The 12?17 age group, which started vaccinations later, has a completion rate of 7.3%. The number of first-dose recipients increased by 55,234 from the previous day. The cumulative number of first-dose recipients is 41,960,278, which is about 81.7% of the total population and 92.9% of those aged 18 and older. Among 12?15-year-olds, 319,824 have received the first dose, and 3,815 have completed the second dose.
