Jeongeup-si Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Statistical Survey and National Statistics Management Evaluation
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeollabuk-do (Mayor Yoo Jinseop) announced on the 12th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the nationwide large-scale statistical survey and national statistics integrated DB management evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Statistics Korea.
The large-scale statistical survey award is given to local governments and public officials who conducted large-scale statistical surveys such as the 2020 Population and Housing Census and Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Census, and the 2021 Economic Census, to encourage their efforts.
The large-scale statistical survey is a nationwide survey conducted every five years to grasp the status of population, households, agricultural and forestry households, and economic conditions that directly affect citizens' lives, and is used as basic data for various policy projects.
The city was selected as an excellent institution by faithfully carrying out ▲establishment of its own implementation and promotion plans ▲training of surveyors ▲field guidance ▲infectious disease prevention education ▲support for field surveys in vulnerable areas in the Population and Housing and Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Census conducted last year and the Economic Census this year.
In addition, the city was selected as an excellent institution for national statistics integrated DB management at the ‘2020 Statistical Compilation Institution Workshop’ hosted by Statistics Korea held on the 10th.
The national statistics integrated DB management evaluation is conducted annually by Statistics Korea to continuously raise interest and efficiently manage the national statistics integrated DB.
Statistics Korea comprehensively evaluated 390 institutions (central administrative agencies, local governments, designated statistical compilation institutions, etc.) that provide data through the National Statistical Portal (KOSIS) on the timeliness and accuracy of data and the cooperation of institutions, selecting a total of eight institutions.
The city received the Statistics Korea Commissioner’s Award by achieving excellent scores in all areas including the accuracy and timeliness of statistical data in this evaluation.
In particular, the city has established an integrated database system to quickly deliver statistical data in 16 fields such as education, construction, environment, and health collected from 1959 to the present, and provides it on the Jeongeup City website.
Mayor Yoo Jinseop said, “This excellent institution award is an achievement made through the joint efforts of all employees despite survey non-responses and crisis situations such as COVID-19 and AI,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts for statistical surveys and data management that produce basic data for the establishment of major national policies.”
