Samyang Group Holds 'Samyang Innovation R&D Fair 2021'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Samyang Group is seeking the key to maximizing existing business performance and discovering new businesses through research and development (R&D).
Samyang Group announced on the 10th that it held the ‘Samyang Innovation R&D Fair (hereafter SIRF) 2021’ at the Samyang Discovery Center in Pangyo.
SIRF is an event where all research institutes within Samyang Group, including the Food Bio, Chemical, Pharmaceutical Bio, Convergence Materials Research Institutes, Samyang Packaging Tech Center, and KCI Research Institute, exhibit and share the results of their research conducted over the year. Since 2012, Samyang Group has held this event annually to boost R&D motivation and serve as a platform for knowledge sharing.
This year’s SIRF, following last year, minimized offline attendance and project exhibitions to comply with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines and broadcast the event online.
At this SIRF, Samyang Group held an awards ceremony for outstanding projects alongside the project exhibitions, encouraging R&D enthusiasm and sharing research achievements through project presentations.
At the SIRF 2021 Outstanding Project Awards Ceremony, the grand prize was awarded to the Food Bio Research Institute’s ‘Development of Next-Generation Sweetener Allulose,’ while the excellence awards were jointly given to two projects: the Chemical Research Institute’s ‘Development of PC·PBT Materials for Automotive Interior Parts’ and KCI’s ‘Development of High-Quality Low-Irritation Emulsified Thickener.’
Notably, this SIRF awards ceremony marked the first time a grand prize was selected in the event’s 10-year history, adding significance to the 10th anniversary of SIRF. The SIRF Outstanding R&D Awards are selected comprehensively considering profit and contribution to company competitiveness, innovativeness, and creativity. The grand prize is awarded only to projects that possess both economic performance and innovativeness and creativity.
