Namwon-si to Hold 'Samdo Art Exchange Exhibition' on the 10th

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 9th that the Samdo Art Exchange Exhibition will be held at Namwon Baekdudaegan from the 10th to the 25th.

Hosted by the Namwon branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association and sponsored by the city, this exhibition features 100 members from art associations of three regions showcasing 100 works including paintings, crafts, and sculptures.

To celebrate the opening of the event, the Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform on the 19th.

The Samdo Exchange Exhibition is expected to serve as a platform for communication and exchange among cultural and artistic figures from different regions, promoting the development of culture and arts in the Samdo area, broadening understanding and cooperation between regions through art, and providing citizens with opportunities to enjoy diverse art forms.

This event was promoted to minimize restrictions on cultural and artistic spaces due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation by sharing spaces operated by the city, aiming for a ‘wise cultural COVID-19 overcoming’ in the local art community.

Additionally, it is seen as a strong bridge connecting culture and arts by playing the role of a communication and exchange platform for cultural and artistic figures from different regions of Samdo, broadening understanding and cooperation between regions through art, and providing citizens with opportunities to enjoy diverse art forms.

Lee Du-il, head of the Namwon branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association, said, “These days, with outdoor activities restricted due to COVID-19, this meaningful exhibition involving artists from Gumi, Namwon, and Asan will be a precious opportunity for communication between regions,” adding, “I hope it will be a time to appreciate nature and heal emotionally and mentally in Baekdudaegan, a special place with beautiful autumn foliage.”

A city official said, “Through this Samdo Art Exchange Exhibition, we expect the Namwon branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association to always take the lead in the development of culture and arts in the Samdo region and the improvement of the quality of life of Namwon citizens.”
