[AKYUNG Poll] President Moon's Approval Rating Falls to 30% Range... Clear Negative Evaluation Among 20s
President's Job Performance Approval: Positive 39.7% vs Negative 57.8%
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his administration has fallen to the 30% range. Negative evaluations were predominant across all age groups except for those in their 40s, with the highest negative rating observed among people in their 20s.
On the 9th, Asia Economy commissioned Win-G Korea Consulting to conduct a public opinion survey (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response) targeting 1,005 voters aged 18 and older nationwide from the 6th to 7th. The results showed that the response of "doing well" regarding President Moon Jae-in's administration dropped by 0.7 percentage points compared to the second week of September, falling to 39.7%, marking a return to the 30% range since the third week of May (36.8%). Conversely, the response of "not doing well" recorded 57.8%, with a positive-negative gap of 18.1 percentage points. The response of "don't know well" was 2.4%.
By age group, positive evaluations were predominant only among those in their 40s, while negative evaluations led in all other age groups. Negative evaluations were particularly pronounced among those in their 20s. Negative evaluations in the 20s reached 69.6%, the highest among all age groups, while positive responses of "doing well" were only 26.9%.
Additionally, negative responses of "not doing well" were predominant in the 30s (57.6%), 50s (56.2%), and 60s (62.5%). Only in the 40s did positive responses (57.2%) outnumber negative responses (41.8%).
Regionally, only the Honam area showed a predominant positive evaluation at 75.7%, while negative evaluations were higher in all other regions. Negative evaluations exceeded 60% in areas including Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (66.6%), Seoul (66.1%), and Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (65.8%).

This survey was conducted by Asia Economy through Win-G Korea Consulting from the 6th to 7th targeting voters aged 18 and older nationwide, with 1,005 respondents and an overall response rate of 6.7%. The survey method was wireless ARS using 100% mobile phone virtual numbers, and the sample was extracted with weighted values by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population as of the end of January 2021 by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (cell weighting). The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
