[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The government's 'Dining Discount' program, which refunds 10,000 KRW after four orders at online and offline dining establishments, will end on the 10th, just ten days after its launch, due to budget exhaustion.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 9th that the dining discount support program using credit cards, which resumed on the 1st, will end on the 10th. During the past week (1st to 7th), there were a total of 5.65 million transactions participating in the program, and the amount to be refunded to consumers through credit card companies is 10.9 billion KRW. Applications for the discount support program are accepted until midnight on the 9th, and transactions made by midnight on the 10th will be recognized.
With this program, the dining discount support via credit cards will be completely terminated, and future programs will be promoted through local currency (in 76 locations).
