Simmons Bed Continues Donating Fire-Resistant Mattresses on the 9th 'Firefighting Day'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Simmons Bed continues its good deeds for firefighters on the occasion of the '59th Firefighting Day' on the 9th.
Simmons Bed recently began donating its flame-retardant mattresses, which are resistant to fire, sequentially to fire stations and 119 safety centers in various regions, starting with Gyeongsan Fire Station in Gyeongbuk, followed by other areas in Gyeongbuk such as Gumi, Gyeongju, and Mungyeong, as well as fire stations in Gangwon and Chungbuk.
On the 2nd, Simmons signed a business agreement with the Korea Fire Welfare Foundation, pledging to deliver flame-retardant mattresses and frames worth 100 million KRW to fire stations and 119 safety centers nationwide.
The Korea Fire Welfare Foundation was established in 2015 to enhance the rights and welfare of current and former firefighters, volunteer firefighters, and workers in the firefighting field, as well as to promote public safety culture awareness.
Since 2019, Simmons Bed has donated flame-retardant mattresses and frames worth 100 million KRW annually in cooperation with the Korea Fire Welfare Foundation. So far, Simmons beds have been installed in over 150 fire stations, fire headquarters, and 119 safety centers nationwide.
The flame-retardant mattress, first developed and launched domestically by Simmons, does not easily catch fire and, even if ignited, slowly self-extinguishes. It prevents the 'Flash Over' phenomenon, where flames spread rapidly, helping firefighters safely suppress fires and securing the golden time for occupants to evacuate.
