Mayor Roh Hyun-song said, “The energy we use easily and conveniently in our daily lives has now become the main culprit of carbon emissions threatening the Earth,” and added, “I ask all residents to actively join the energy-saving movement that can be practiced in daily life.”
Having been nominated by Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Mayor Roh Hyun-song nominated Kang Young-seok, Mayor of Sangju City, as the next participant to continue the challenge.

The ‘2021 Autumn Healing Park Day’ was planned to allow residents to fully enjoy the beautiful season in urban parks (Yangcheon, Mokma, Neomeundeul) that evoke the autumn atmosphere.

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced on the 8th that a ‘Go-Wi (Though Distance Grows, Don’t Shrink) Project’ support goods delivery ceremony was held at the Dongdaemun-gu Hanmaeum Community Child Center, attended by about 20 people including representatives from the Youth Sharing Company and Hwikyung Girls’ High School.
The ‘Go-Wi (Though Distance Grows, Don’t Shrink) Project’ was planned to deliver the message, “Though distance grows, we are still by your side, so don’t shrink. Let’s overcome this together,” to neighbors suffering from emotional isolation due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and reduced face-to-face activities.
This project was planned and operated by the ‘Youth Sharing Company,’ formed by the Dongdaemun-gu Youth Network (Dongcheongnet), to directly engage in volunteer activities for the local community. High school and university students from Dongdaemun-gu also joined in.
To comfort those increasingly isolated and lonely while living with social distancing, the ‘Youth Sharing Company’ recruited a university student mentor group in Dongdaemun-gu and provided volunteer-related education. Afterwards, the university student mentors made picture letters and mask straps by hand together with 450 first- and second-year students of Hwikyung Girls’ High School. The ‘Youth Sharing Company’ added stationery and art supplies prepared with the Dongdaemun-gu youth policy budget from the Seoul Metropolitan Government Youth Autonomous Budget to the carefully made gifts, completing 450 support sets. The prepared 450 support sets will be delivered to children through 14 local child centers in Dongdaemun-gu.
A Hwikyung Girls’ High School student who participated in the project said, “While decorating picture letters to give courage to someone, I had a precious experience of receiving comfort myself. I hope children feel happiness receiving the beautifully made support goods.”
