"Seoul Shilla Hotel to Own Works by Artist Park Seo-bo, Launches 'Art Tech' Integrated Staycation"
Opportunity to Appreciate Park Seo-bo's 'Ecriture' Series and Own Shared Ownership
A New Hotel Vacation Product Combining Art, Investment, and Leisure
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The Shilla Seoul Hotel announced on the 8th that it will launch the package "Fall in Art," which combines the new cultural trend and investment method of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), called "Arttech" (a compound of art and finance).
This package, introduced in partnership with Art & Guide, a shared art trading platform, features the opportunity to enjoy and own masterpieces by great artists during a hotel vacation.
The first selected work for "Fall in Art" is Park Seo-bo's "Ecriture." All users of the "Fall in Art" package will receive shared ownership (50,000 KRW) of either "Ecriture No. 071218" or "Ecriture No. 111020," allowing them to own a part of a world-renowned artwork. The hotel stated, "Park Seo-bo's works have recorded an average auction success rate of 75%, gaining recognition not only in Korea but also in the global art market," adding, "Even beginners in 'Arttech' can relatively safely experience art investment."
Park Seo-bo, known as the "Pioneer of Dansaekhwa" and the "Artist of Healing," is a representative figure who introduced Korean contemporary art to the world. Recently, he was awarded the Geumgwan Cultural Medal, the highest honor in the cultural and artistic field, recognizing his contributions to the development of culture and arts. His "Ecriture" series began in the early 1970s with pencil etching. While the early etchings focused on the process of emptying oneself and resignation through repetitive actions, the later colored etchings emphasized the traces of the hand, creating forms with grooves at regular intervals and highlighting rich colors. The works "Ecriture No. 071218" and "Ecriture No. 111020" represent the period when Park Seo-bo began to introduce changes to his later etching style.
During the sales period of the "Fall in Art" package, Shilla Seoul Hotel will exhibit the two works in the arcade on the basement first floor, providing customers with the opportunity to experience and share the artworks. Customers using the "Fall in Art" package will also receive a plate featuring Park Seo-bo's "Ecriture" works as merchandise.
