Hidden Camera Offender Filmed Woman's Body for Over 3 Years Receives Probation...Victim Demands Severe Punishment
Over 3,300 Child Pornography Files Stored on Mobile Phone Also Confirmed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A man who secretly filmed women's body parts for several years was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
The 12th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge No Jae-ho) on the 5th sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming and distribution using a camera, etc.), to 2 years in prison with a 3-year suspension.
He was also ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and was restricted from employment in institutions related to children and adolescents.
Mr. A was prosecuted for secretly filming the legs of unspecified women wearing skirts, etc., a total of 255 times over 3 years and 6 months.
He is also accused of receiving over 3,300 child pornography (child and adolescent sexual exploitation materials), storing them on his mobile phone or online spaces, and distributing them to others.
Some victims reportedly learned of these facts and urged the court to impose severe punishment.
The court stated, "He repeatedly filmed bodies that could induce sexual desire or shame over a considerable period," and judged, "Considering the method, duration, and frequency of the crime, the nature of the offense is not good."
However, the court noted, "He filmed body parts exposed in daily life, and the degree of violation of sexual shame is not severe," and "The fact that victims cannot be identified is also a favorable circumstance."
It added, "He is a first-time offender with no prior criminal record and is deeply remorseful."
