[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Saemgoeul Market in Jeongeup, Jeonbuk, has been selected for the second round of the Korea Fisheries Expo 'Traditional Market Booth Event' hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, following the first round in September.
According to the city on the 3rd, this 'Traditional Market Booth Event' is a project aimed at revitalizing traditional markets by supporting the fisheries industry, which has been stagnant due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and helping to restore weakened consumer sentiment.
It is a payback event where customers receive Onnuri gift certificates in varying amounts based on their purchase amount at 36 stores selling domestic seafood within Saemgoeul Market.
The Saemgoeul Market Merchants Association (Chairman Lee Heung-gu) actively proposed the event to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the National Merchants Federation, successfully attracting the event and securing a budget of 100 million won.
The event will be held from the 8th to the 21st of this month.
Customers who purchase over 17,000 won will receive a 5,000 won Onnuri gift certificate; over 34,000 won, a 10,000 won certificate; over 51,000 won, a 15,000 won certificate; and over 68,000 won, a 20,000 won certificate.
Information on seafood stores participating in this event can be confirmed at the Saemgoeul Market Merchants Association office, and promotional materials will be provided at the respective stores.
To redeem the gift certificates, customers must visit the customer rest area within Saemgoeul Market on the day of purchase with their purchase receipt (credit card slip or cash receipt).
Each person can receive a maximum refund of 20,000 won per week and up to 40,000 won over two weeks. Small receipts used on the same day can be combined. The event may end early if the budget is exhausted.
The city is making thorough efforts to promote the event so that many citizens can participate in shopping at traditional markets by posting promotional banners in major city areas.
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop expressed, "I deeply thank the Saemgoeul Market Merchants Association for attracting this event," and added, "I hope this event will help small business owners in the fisheries sector who are struggling due to COVID-19."
