The Gwangju Kimchi Self-Supporting Cooperative is a cooperative that brings together all parties related to kimchi, including kimchi producers, distributors and sellers, kimchi masters, and raw material producing farmers, to promote kimchi culture.
This business agreement is the second agreement signed by the Gwangju Main Customs Office with agricultural and fishery food producer organizations following the Wando Seafood Export Logistics Cooperative in October, aimed at fostering Gwangju kimchi export companies and expanding export markets through establishing a cooperative system with local kimchi producer groups, thereby providing comprehensive support for K-FOOD exports.
The main contents of the agreement include building a mutual cooperation system to △ support overseas market development and overall export activities of kimchi export companies △ provide comprehensive export consulting including export and FTA utilization △ share major issues and information △ promote export support projects.
Jeong Seung-hwan, Director of Gwangju Main Customs Office, stated, "Taking this business agreement as an opportunity, we will actively strive to revitalize exports of Gwangju kimchi manufacturing companies, and through this, we hope that the taste and excellence of premium Gwangju kimchi will be widely known around the world."
Chae Geum-jin, Chairman of the Gwangju Kimchi Self-Supporting Cooperative, said, "Under the banner of 'Premiumization of Gwangju Kimchi,' we aim to explore export businesses that can achieve mutual growth together with everyone engaged in the kimchi industry."
The Gwangju Main Customs Office and the Gwangju Kimchi Self-Supporting Cooperative plan to cooperate mutually so that promising local small and medium food companies can expand globally, riding on the popularity of K-FOOD.
