"Bus Reserved by AI"‥ Paju Unjeong 'Demand Responsive Transit (DRT)' to Operate from Next Month
Preferred Negotiation Partner Selected: Shinsung Passenger Co., Ltd... Part of Unjeong New Town Public Transportation Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Starting this December, a new public transportation service called 'Gyeonggi-do Type Demand Responsive Transport (DRT)' will begin operating in Paju Unjeong New Town.
According to the city on the 1st, DRT is a bus service that creates the optimal route in real-time using AI (artificial intelligence) when users reserve their departure and arrival points through a smartphone app.
The city selected Shinseong Passenger Co., Ltd. as the preferred negotiation partner through a transportation operator recruitment in September. The transportation company aims to start operations from December after a trial run.
DRT is part of the transportation measures for Unjeong 3 District and will operate 9 dedicated buses. From January next year, 11 buses on 3 village bus routes will also be operated.
As a result, residents of Unjeong 3 District, where there are no bus routes, will be able to easily access large marts, administrative offices, academies, and hospitals in Unjeong 1 and 2 districts, which are more than an hour's walk away.
