Sancheong-gun, Full Effort on Wildfire Prevention Activities Until Next Spring
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that it has designated the "2021 Autumn - 2022 Spring Wildfire Prevention Period" and will implement a comprehensive wildfire prevention plan.
The Wildfire Prevention Headquarters has been established within the County Office's Forest and Greenery Division and the industrial economy departments of each eup and myeon to promote wildfire prevention awareness activities and projects for firefighting.
This year, the county selected 141 wildfire prevention and firefighting specialists and wildfire watchers, who have been assigned to the County Office and eup/myeon offices. They are scheduled to participate in technical and safety training for wildfire prevention and firefighting conducted by the Korea Wildfire Prevention Association in November.
In particular, the county plans to complete the construction of the Wildfire Response Center in mid-November to strengthen wildfire response capabilities by placing firefighting teams on standby and deploying firefighting equipment and vehicles. Additionally, focused patrols will be conducted in vulnerable areas through wildfire risk surveys.

A county official stated, "In the event of a wildfire, we will mobilize all personnel and equipment, including firefighting personnel, surveillance cameras, firefighting vehicles, and wildfire helicopters, for initial firefighting to prevent the spread of large-scale wildfires," and added, "Prevention is the top priority for wildfires. We strongly urge residents to refrain from burning trash or other materials near mountainous areas."
