[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Eugene Group is making a full-scale preparation for With Corona as the COVID-19 quarantine system transitions to a phased return to normal life.
With the implementation of With Corona, Eugene Group plans to gradually adjust internal quarantine guidelines, such as progressively reducing the proportion of remote work, but will maintain untact or ontact methods for non-face-to-face education and events as before.
Immediately after the spread of COVID-19, Eugene Group formed a crisis response TFT and has been focusing all efforts on the health and quarantine of employees centered on each affiliate.
The parent company, Eugene Corporation, has been mandating a 50% level of remote and distributed work for each team at headquarters. They introduced vaccine leave, providing two days of paid leave including the vaccination day to encourage employees to get vaccinated. After the last Chuseok holiday, they strengthened quarantine by allowing only those who tested negative for COVID-19 to return to work normally. As a result, as of the 31st of last month, the overall vaccination rate among employees was 96.3% for the first dose and 91% fully vaccinated, significantly higher than the national vaccination rates of 80.1% for the first dose and 75.3% for the second dose.
Eugene Corporation is gradually reducing the proportion of remote work by excluding employees who have completed their second vaccine dose more than 14 days ago from the calculation of remote and distributed work targets, in preparation for the rising vaccination rate and the upcoming With Corona (phased return to normal life) next month.
Dongyang, with a full vaccination rate exceeding 90%, has changed its policy from maintaining 50% remote work to implementing remote work only for employees who need it, considering each team’s situation starting this month. Dongyang plans to develop specific measures in line with government quarantine policies and phased return to normal life guidelines following the implementation of With Corona.
Eugene Hanil Fibers expects all employees to complete vaccination early this month and plans to minimize the proportion of remote work according to the With Corona phase. They are reviewing changes to internal quarantine guidelines, including adjusting working hours. Notably, from this month, employees returning from overseas business trips in Indonesia to Korea will be exempt from quarantine only if fully vaccinated, enabling normal work resumption after overseas business trips and accelerating the normalization of related operations.
Eugene Group will maintain non-face-to-face systems such as video conferencing platforms for face-to-face meetings and group training for the time being, ensuring thorough quarantine so that employees can work without infection risk until COVID-19 is eradicated.
