1877 Confirmed Cases by 9 PM, 43 More Than Yesterday... 2000s Expected Tomorrow

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] As the spread of COVID-19 continues, new confirmed cases were reported across the country on the 30th as well.

According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, a total of 1,877 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded nationwide.

This is 43 more than the 1,834 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 522 more compared to 1,355 cases recorded during the same time slot one week earlier on Saturday, October 23.

Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported that day, 1,454 cases (77.5%) were from the metropolitan area, and 423 cases (22.5%) were from non-metropolitan areas.

By city and province, Seoul reported 726 cases, Gyeonggi 568, Incheon 160, Chungnam 62, Gyeongnam 60, Busan and Daegu each 57, Gyeongbuk 56, Jeonnam and Chungbuk each 25, Gwangju 23, Gangwon 22, Jeonbuk 19, Daejeon 11, Ulsan 5, and Jeju 1.

Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, confirmed cases were reported in all regions except Sejong.

According to the 6 p.m. tally, the number of confirmed cases appeared to have decreased compared to the previous day, but as cases continued to be reported in Seoul and Gyeonggi afterward, the 9 p.m. tally showed an increase compared to the previous day.

Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 0 a.m. on the 31st is expected to increase further, reaching the 2,000 range.

If the number of confirmed cases as of 0 a.m. on the 31st is around this estimate, it will mark the fourth consecutive day with over 2,000 cases since the 2,111 cases on the 28th.
