Rejuvenated Democratic Peace Council Holds Youth Committee Meeting in Jeonnam... 'Let's Achieve Peaceful Unification Together'
Meeting of Gwangju-Jeonnam Pyeongtong Youth Committee Chairpersons
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] The Jeonnam Youth Committee of the National Unification Advisory Council (hereinafter Youth Committee) held the 1st Jeonnam Youth Committee meeting on the 28th.
The meeting held in Mokpo, Jeonnam, brought together Jo Okhee, Vice Chair of the National Unification Advisory Council Jeonnam Branch, Wang Hyogeun, Vice Chair of the Youth Division of the National Unification Advisory Council, Park Jinwan, Chair of the Jeonnam Youth Committee, and youth chairs from 22 regions in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
In particular, discussions among the National Unification Advisory Council youth committee members were conducted on various topics including the current COVID-19 situation in North Korea, responses, and humanitarian vaccine support.
Park Jinwan, Chair of the National Unification Advisory Council Jeonnam Youth Committee, who hosted the meeting, said, “Before the declaration of the end of the Korean War between South and North Korea, we organized this gathering to share the voices of youth committee members and create a place where they can actively practice for a healthy peaceful unification.” He emphasized, “Our youth committee’s goal and mission is to understand the realities of South and North Korea and further achieve the declaration of the end of the war to lay the foundation for peaceful unification.”
Now entering its second month since its launch, the 20th National Unification Advisory Council Jeonnam Committee is leading efforts to unite the positive power of the public toward peaceful unification by promoting various plans and events, and it also held the first-ever youth meeting in Jeonnam nationwide.
Additionally, with the newly established position of Vice Chair of the Youth Division in the 40-year history of the National Unification Advisory Council, it is expected to become an opportunity for the aspiration for unification to take off together with the older generation.
Wang Hyogeun, Vice Chair of the Youth Division of the National Unification Advisory Council, pledged, “For our youth generation who have not experienced the pain of division firsthand, I want to share the necessity of peaceful unification and become a cornerstone where positive hopes gather to write a new history on the Korean Peninsula.”
Meanwhile, since the launch of the 20th term, the National Unification Advisory Council Jeonnam Committee has been carrying out various activities such as the National Youth Peaceful Unification Rap Contest, Psychological Quarantine Peaceful Unification Empathy Debate, and Love Sharing Events with North Korean Defectors.
