Goheung Buncheong Sagi "Contest" Award Ceremony and Exhibition Opening
Author Jeong Young-yu's 'San' Wins Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award (Grand Prize)
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jung-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) held the award ceremony and opening ceremony of the planned exhibition for the 4th Goheung Buncheong Ceramic Contest, which was promoted to publicize and popularize Goheung Buncheong ceramics, at the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum at 11 a.m. on the 28th.
About 50 people attended the event, including the governor of Goheung-gun, members of the Goheung-gun council, cultural institution officials, Seorim Monk from Geumtap Temple, Buncheong ceramic artists, and residents of Goheung-gun.
The grand prize of the 4th Goheung Buncheong Ceramic Contest was awarded to artist Jeong Young-yu (1992, Buyeo, Chungnam) for the work titled "Mountain," receiving the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and a prize of 10 million won.
Jeong Young-yu, who won the grand prize, said, "I hope that through the Goheung Buncheong Ceramic Contest, Goheung Buncheong ceramics will be introduced to countries around the world, and that many Buncheong ceramic artists will actively work to make the contest more vibrant by letting people know that Goheung is at the center of Buncheong ceramics."
The planned exhibition of the award-winning works from the 4th Goheung Buncheong Ceramic Contest allows visitors to enjoy the charm of Buncheong ceramic art and see 31 works that are creatively and artistically accomplished.
The exhibition, under the theme "Goheung Buncheong Dreams of Freedom," will be held in the lobby of the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum from Thursday, October 28, 2021, to Sunday, January 9, 2022.
A county official said, "We hope many visitors will have an enjoyable time experiencing the charm of Buncheong ceramic art, which harmonizes tradition and modernity, through the excellent works awarded in the contest."
