Yoo Seung-min: "Unification rumors reveal Yoon and Hong's anxiety... Please choose a candidate who can overwhelm Lee"
Yoon Seok-yeol and Hong Joon-pyo, Policies and Morality Equally Flawed... "Losing Is Obvious"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoo Seung-min, a former lawmaker and presidential candidate of the People Power Party, said on the 29th, "There can be no unification, and I have never even considered it," adding, "If Hong Joon-pyo, a People Power Party lawmaker, wants unification, he should withdraw himself and declare his support for me." Both former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl and lawmaker Hong appealed for support, saying that "losing is obvious" in the presidential election and asked to support a candidate who can win.
After a press conference held at the National Assembly Communication Office on the same day, Yoo responded to rumors of unification by saying, "I hope Hong's camp does not engage in cowardly acts," and questioned, "Unification cannot happen, and the primary itself is the process of selecting our party's single candidate, so how could unification occur?" He added, "Hong's camp has been playing such tricks a lot, and it seems Yoon's camp is also using this. I think both are expressions of anxiety."
When asked whether it would have been better if Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, had not run in the party convention and instead supported Yoo in the presidential election, he said, "I have no such thought at all," adding, "He must also be considering the young voters who supported Lee. They will think hard because they would regret voting for a candidate who loses easily and then losing in the general election." He continued, "Since the policies and morality of former Prosecutor General Yoon and lawmaker Hong are equally problematic, I think it is obvious that whoever among the two advances will lose."
