[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The 'think tank' for the autonomous police system, which was fully implemented in July this year, has opened at the Korean National Police University.
On the afternoon of the 29th, the Korean National Police University held an opening ceremony for the 'Autonomous Police Development Institute,' a research organization dedicated to studying ways to advance the Korean autonomous police system, at the Police University in Asan, Chungnam.
The institute is composed of a total of 47 members, including adjunct researchers from the Police University and the Police Human Resources Development Institute at the Asan Police Education Town, external advisory members, and visiting researchers. The director is Professor Seo Jun-bae from the Department of Public Administration at the Police University.
The institute will focus on education and research related to the Korean-style autonomous police system. It will communicate with autonomous police committees across cities and provinces nationwide, collect overseas cases, and provide ideas to discover customized public safety policies. A scholarly seminar is also planned for the end of next month.

The National Police Agency will also spare no effort in cooperation and support on the path where the police move closer to residents and transform and develop into a community-oriented police force."
