[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police summoned Jin Kyung-ho, chairman of the National Courier Labor Union, who led the general strike of the courier union last June, as a suspect.
Chairman Jin appeared at the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul at around 1:30 p.m. on the 27th and told reporters, "The work site is private property, so there is no need to report the assembly," adding, "Even though a social agreement was reached, the Korea Post is not withdrawing the complaint, which is harassment of the union."
The courier union held a general strike on June 9 to urge the resolution of the issue of overwork deaths among courier workers. In response, the Korea Post filed a complaint with the police against Jin Kyung-ho, chairman of the courier union, and Yoon Jung-hyun, head of the National Courier Union Post Office Headquarters, on charges of obstruction of business.
