[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Kyungdong Navien and POSCO have joined forces to reduce carbon emissions in daily life.
On the 25th, the two companies signed an agreement for the 'Eco-friendly Boiler Sharing Project' and decided to provide Kyungdong Navien's condensing boilers, which use POSCO stainless steel, free of charge to low-income households located near their business sites in Pohang, Gwangyang, and other areas. POSCO will donate a certain quantity, and Kyungdong Navien will supply the same amount free of charge.
This agreement was jointly proposed in line with both companies' management policies aimed at contributing to ESG management through carbon reduction while practicing sharing with local communities. As this marks the beginning of expanding ESG activities led by corporations, the two companies plan to continue the project together for the next three years.
By supporting low-income groups who find it difficult to replace old boilers due to cost burdens, this initiative is expected to directly help reduce heating expenses for vulnerable populations, while also achieving social effects by reducing pollutant emissions.
Choi Gyu-seo, Head of POSCO STS Marketing Office, explained the significance of the collaboration: "It is highly meaningful that we are practicing our management philosophy together with Kyungdong Navien, which produces eco-friendly products using our materials, and building a partnership that shares social values and management philosophy beyond a transactional relationship."
