Naver Removes Star Ratings, Officially Launches 'Keyword Review'
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver announced on the 27th that it has officially launched a new review system called 'Keyword Review,' eliminating the 'star rating' system.
Han Seong-sook, CEO of Naver, previously stated, "Offline stores are greatly influenced by star ratings and reviews from a small number of users compared to online," and announced the abolition of the existing star rating system.
'Keyword Review' allows users to select keywords that reflect the characteristics of the store they visited. Along with existing photo and text reviews, users who visited the location choose keywords that capture their experience.
The company explained that through Keyword Reviews, various strengths and features of stores can be seen at a glance. Users can more easily find stores that match their personal preferences or visit purposes, and from the business owner's perspective, it becomes easier to connect with potential customers who are likely to like their store.
Currently, Keyword Reviews have been applied to a total of 10 industries, including restaurants and accommodations. The plan is to expand to all target industries within the year. Starting from the 28th, business owners can directly decide whether to display the average star rating in the Place section, and star rating exposure will be discontinued in the first quarter of next year.
