FKCCI: "Former President Roh Tae-woo Achieved Direct Election System Establishment and Northern Diplomacy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Federation of Korean Industries expressed deep condolences on the passing of former President Roh Tae-woo on the 26th.
The Federation stated, "The late former President Roh Tae-woo revived the values of liberal democracy by establishing the direct presidential election system through the June 29 Declaration, and elevated the nation's prestige by successfully hosting the 1988 Seoul Olympics."
They added, "He also worked for the nation's development by advancing South Korean diplomacy to the level of developed countries through northern diplomacy and leading rapid economic growth with economic policies based on freedom and openness."
