KDI Hosts 'East Asia Economic Education International Conference'
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] The Korea Development Institute (KDI) will hold the "East Asia Economic Education International Academic Conference" on the 26th at the Global Knowledge Cooperation Complex in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.
Marking the 50th anniversary of KDI's founding, this conference, organized together with the Korean Economic Education Society, will be divided into sessions on ▲Challenges and Tasks of Economic Education ▲Economic Education Implementation System ▲Strategies for the Development of Financial Education, featuring expert presentations and discussions in each session.
The first session, themed "Challenges and Tasks of Economic Education at the National Level," will be chaired by Professor Han Kyung-dong of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Professor Kim Jin-young of Kangwon National University will present on "Korea's National Economic Challenges and Directions for Economic Education." Additionally, Professor Gam Ji-hye of Shenzhen Harbin Institute of Technology, China, will present on "China's Economic Growth and Economic Education," and Professor Mizuno Katsushi of Meiji University, Japan, will present on "The Footsteps of Economic Education Implementation in Japan."
The second session, titled "Economic Education Implementation System at the National Level," will be chaired by Professor Seo Eun-sook of Sangmyung University. Researcher Zhu Jiaohui from the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences will present on "Current Status and Improvement Exploration of National Economic Education in China," Professor Osaka Hiroshi of Toyama University, Japan, will present on "Japan's Economic Education Provision System," and Research Fellow Lee So-yeon of the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation will present on "The Evolution of Korea's Economic Education Curriculum."
Following this, Director Seo Jung-hae of the KDI Economic Information Center will chair the final session, "Strategies for the Development of Financial Education at the National Level." Professor Kurihara Hisashi of Toyo University, Japan, will present on "Financial Education Viewed through Japan's New Course of Study Guidelines," followed by Professor Lee Yun-ho of Suncheon National University presenting on "Challenges and Development Strategies of Korean Financial Education," and Senior Research Fellow Kim Ja-bong of the Korea Institute of Finance presenting on "The Moment of Financial Education."

In his welcoming remarks, KDI President Hong Jang-pyo stated, "Overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic begins with enhancing the crisis response capabilities of each country's citizens." He added, "This academic conference holds special significance as it examines the situations faced by East Asian countries, including Korea, the role of economic education within those contexts, and seeks solutions through solidarity among nations."
