Seoul Metropolitan Council Chairman Kim In-ho Signs MOU with Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to Promote Anti-Corruption and Integrity Culture
Chairman Kim In-ho stated, "Seoul Metropolitan Council will take the lead in achieving the level of fairness citizens expect and strive to become a trusted council worthy of the 30-year history since the revival of local councils."
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seoul Metropolitan Council (Chairman Kim In-ho) signed a business agreement on the 21st at the Chairman's Office of the Seoul Metropolitan Council with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (Chairperson Jeon Hyun-hee), the main agency for anti-corruption and integrity policies, to promote the spread of anti-corruption and integrity culture in local councils.
Kim In-ho, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, explained the background of signing the integrity business agreement with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, stating, "For creating a fair society where efforts lead to results, it is essential for local councils, which are closest to the citizens, to take the lead."
Through this business agreement, the Seoul Metropolitan Council and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission plan to mutually cooperate to enhance fairness and transparency in public service and realize an honest society by actively implementing: ? fair and transparent work performance and thorough completion of integrity education ? compliance with the code of conduct for local council members, including prevention of conflicts of interest and prohibition of concurrent positions ? implementation of anti-corruption and integrity policies tailored to residents' perspectives ? institutional improvements and recommendations for corruption prevention.
Chairman Kim In-ho said, "As expectations for public professionalism and integrity are increasing day by day, the Seoul Metropolitan Council will take the lead to establish the level of fairness desired by citizens and create changes worthy of the 30-year history of local councils."
Chairperson Jeon Hyun-hee of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission said, "By joining forces with local councils, the cradle of grassroots democracy, we will drastically improve the integrity and fairness of public service and firmly establish ourselves as a world-class advanced country in integrity."
