Regarding the Recovery of Jeonguiyeon Subsidies, "Action Will Be Taken According to Court Ruling"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Jeong Young-ae, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, viewed the statement by the lawyer in the lawsuit requesting the cancellation of the National Human Rights Commission's recommendation decision acknowledging the sexual harassment by the late Park Won-soon, former Mayor of Seoul, as secondary harm toward the victim. The lawsuit was filed by Park's wife, Kang Nan-hee.
At the Gender Equality and Family Committee's audit held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 22nd, Minister Jeong responded "Yes" to the question from Yang Geum-hee, a member of the People Power Party, asking, "Is this act considered secondary harm?" When Yang said, "As the minister of the relevant department, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, you acknowledge this judgment," Jeong also replied, "Yes." On the same day, Yang referred to a Facebook post by the bereaved family's lawyer stating, "What you did to Park Won-soon is character assassination," suggesting the possibility of secondary harm by the lawyer.
She continued, "Regarding the administrative lawsuit filed by the bereaved family concerning the late Mayor Park, that itself cannot be considered secondary harm, but we do not consider the lawyer's secondary harm toward the victim related to the sexual harassment facts as appropriate behavior," adding, "It is desirable to exercise restraint to prevent further secondary damage."
