The Exchange has supported rural areas for 13 years, starting in 2008 with sisterhood agreements with two rural villages in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, and Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province. In July, it formed a sisterhood agreement with Hudong Village in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province, making Jocheon Village the fourth sisterhood partner. The Exchange stated that it plans to further expand its support for rural areas through this new sisterhood agreement.
Every year during the busy farming season, the Exchange visits rural areas to provide farming volunteer activities, support village facilities, and purchase local specialty products. Additionally, it helps with agricultural product harvesting and purchases produce produced within the village to support marginalized groups in need, such as single-parent families. As a result, it received an Excellent Rural Social Contribution Certification from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on October 20, 2019.
