LG Uplus exports XR content to Malaysia... 5G cumulative $23 million
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] LG Uplus is breaking the mold of domestic telecommunications companies and expanding exports of 5G content. The current cumulative export scale has exceeded 23 million dollars.
On the 20th, LG Uplus announced that it signed a 5G-based XR (Extended Reality) content export contract worth 1 million dollars with Malaysia's mobile carrier 'Celcom Axiata Berhad.' The two companies agreed to collaborate on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content and to provide 5G immersive media centered on K-pop. In Malaysia, where Hallyu content is highly popular, LG Uplus plans to showcase idol content such as music stages and star dates that it owns.
With this XR content export, LG Uplus has achieved over 23 million dollars in cumulative 5G exports. This is a consecutive achievement following the XR content collaboration with Thailand's largest mobile carrier AIS in March this year. Last year, it exported 5G content and solutions to PCCW (Hong Kong), Tsinghua Telecom (Taiwan), and KDDI (Japan), and in 2019, it exported VR live technology to China Telecom (China).
